He is still involved with all these activities within the worlds of music and books but prefers to devote much of his time to three non-profits, the New School’s College of Performing Arts, the Jazz Foundation of American and, most importantly, The Jazz Gallery, where he serves as Chairman.įor the last decade I have been photographing musicians. In the ensuing years he has produced hundreds of LPs and CDs, produced hundreds of concerts and music festivals and published over twenty books, photographing and documenting all these activities as they occurred. His most recent photographs of musicians were taken in February 2022 the subjects were the members of the Borderlands Trio, Stephan Crump, Kris Davis and Eric McPherson. The subjects were Mississippi John Hurt and a few weeks later, Duke Ellington. A Member of the Jazz Journalists Association and Represented worldwide, (outside of the United States) by DALLE APRF (Hank O’Neal took his photographs of musicians in 1964. His individual pictures and photographic essays have been featured on album covers and in publications and websites, such as Jazz Times, Downbeat, Rolling Stone, NPR, the BBC, and of course, WBGO. WBGO, Jazz 88.3 CFO by day (and sometimes night) Johnathan Chimene has been photographing Live Music at The Jazz Gallery and other venues and festivals for close to 20 years. In addition to a solo and group exhibits at The Jazz gallery he has also shot cd covers and recording sessions for Smalls Jazz club, Positone Records and Highnote Records. William Brown is a New York based photographer who specializes in capturing the vibrant Jazz scene in the city. This specially curated exhibition of photographs of jazz musicians’ hands features works by William Brown, Jonathan Chimene, Hank O’Neal & Mike Shur. Over time, I built my experience in digital art and animation -specifically by producing independent animation and flash games for sponsorship. I used Adobe Photoshop and my custom Photoshop brushes (available from my web shop) on a Wacom Cintiq 27QHD tablet. Jazza is also a professional musician, writer, voice actor, and creative director. Today Jazza continues to produce innovative content for YouTube, as well as run his own studio, creating tutorials and artistic resources to share and sell online. In 2013 he created animation and art tutorials for YouTube on his channel, ”Draw With Jazza.” At first, he uploaded a video a week, then increased the content as his following grew.
